The Sutton Neighbourhood Plan  (\u201c the Plan\u201d) is a community-led initiative aimed at giving the community a voice in shaping the development of Sutton over the next decade and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan will be the end product of a process that involves community engagement, effective communication of objectives and benefits and setting clear goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This website provides guidance on that process. Everyone can help in the development of our plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why have a plan?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government encourages people to have more say in how their communities might grow and be developed in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Localism Act of 2011 gives Parish Councils authority to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for the parish, dealing primarily with planning matters, such as where new houses might be built, how many and what type. It also encourages important project ideas to make the village a better place to live. A Neighbourhood Plan forms part of the adopted development plan and sits alongside the local plan prepared by the local planning authority, which in the case of Sutton is Peterborough City Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sutton Parish Council decided this was an important opportunity for the future of the village and took the option to initiate a Neighbourhood Plan to guide upcoming development in a sustainable direction and to help to ensure that the community\u2019s views influence Sutton\u2019s future development. The Plan is being drafted by\u00a0\u00a0The Sutton Neighbourhood Plan Contents Group (\u201c the Group\u201d), a team of volunteers, chaired by Simon Scriven, and comprising the chair and vice chair of the Parish Council and currently four other residents. It is expected that in the course of Plan\u2019s preparation the Group may need to call for further help from within the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
